legal secretarial studies elective

Many of our graduates are placed with legal firms. This elective enables you to expand your core administrative skills to cover the legal environment. You are introduced to law and the types of courts and legal practices in New South Wales, and develop skills in performing administrative and word processing tasks specific to a legal office. You also cover legal office procedures and issues of confidentiality and discretion.

Content

The subjects in the elective cover an introduction to the types of courts, legal practices and administration of the law in New South Wales, legal terminology, principles of legal confidentiality and security, legal record maintenance and transmission, planning and prioritising in a legal office, how to search public records, and the preparation and word processing of complex legal documents.

Please note that subjects may be changed at the discretion of the College to keep them up to date, to comply with industry Training Package requirements, or for timetabling purposes.
