Human Resources, as the name suggests, is the area within management that deals with the people employed by a business - finding, interviewing and hiring them, and making sure all aspects of their employment are lawful and designed to promote a happy and productive workforce. Because it is so important to the effective functioning of an organisation, HR is being seen as increasingly important.

This major will appeal to those with good people skills who would like to work in the HR secion of a larger business, and who aren't afraid of dealing with the inevitable background of legal requirements and paperwork.

Availability

You may nominate Human Resources as your required major in any of the following courses:

  • ASFR Dip of Administration majoring in Human Resources
  • MMFR ADip of Management majoring in Human Resources
  • MKFR ADip of Marketing majoring in Human Resources

You may nominate Human Resources as an optional major in the following course, but note that the duration of the course will be increased by 10 weeks:

  • MDFR ADip of Management and Marketing majoring in Human Resources

Content

This major begins with clarifying the role of HR in any organisation. It covers the identification of staff needs, recruiting, selecting, inducting and coaching new staff, monitoring performance implementing performance management systems, and providing leadership in a workplace where customers and staff are from a wide range of backgrounds
