double qualification

The program

Williams’ double major Advanced Diploma of Business (Management & Marketing) is unique in the sense that you can gain a double qualification in just one year. And we don’t just cover the bare minimum at Williams – our subjects in all programs are substantial and practical, and exceed the minimum standard required by industry.

Williams offers a set of qualifications in business management and marketing at Certificate IV and Advanced Diploma levels. The Certificate IV provides a broad foundation in business skills and knowledge that underpins the Advanced Diploma in Business Management and Advanced Diploma in Business (Marketing). The Advanced Diplomas may be taken separately, but can be completed as a dual Advanced Diploma in the same 6 month period, and this is strongly recommended.

This mix coupled with a strong IT focus and practical experience gives you a broad set of skills that offer great career flexibility. You may complete at any level, or use the qualifications already gained as the starting point for the next level or step.

Course content

The subjects used in the Double Advanced Diploma build on the practical skills and foundation knowledge achieved in the Certificate IV in Business, which occupies the first semester of the course. These emphasise computer and interpersonal communication skills -- indispensable tools in today's competitive business world. They also cover accounting systems using MYOB, supervision and project management skills, and knowledge of practical aspects of marketing.

At the Advanced Diploma level, the subjects include managing both business and marketing strategy development and planning, consumer behaviour and market research, day-to-day operational management, customer service, international marketing, methods and styles of leadership that achieve results, and a knowledge of the legal framework in which businesses must operate. The subjects in your chosen major allow you to personalise the course.

Please note that subjects may be changed at the discretion of the College to keep them up to date, to comply with industry Training Package requirements, or for timetabling purposes.

  • Events Management: A rapidly expanding industry that appeals to people that are project oriented and happy to live with deadlines and a frantic lifestyle.
  • Human Resources: An important function in all medium to large organisations that appeals to those that like dealing with people.
  • Financial Control: An essential function in all organisations that needs an organised and logical person with a head for figures.

Alan Guidetti came from Italy ten years ago on holiday and decided to stay. "The program at Williams was a great introduction and starting point in my career. I began by enrolling in the Advanced Diploma of Business (Marketing) course and continued study towards the Bachelor of Business Administration with the University of Canberra. The experience with the Williams program has been fantastic and gave me the opportunity to learn skills that are still useful in my current role as General Manager at Sign-a-Rama North Sydney. I deal with all sorts of general day to day decisions that are crucial not only for the business but also for the staff, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders. Everything I learnt at Williams has helped me, not only by giving me the skills and knowledge to make those decisions, but also the confidence to deal with the pressure and responsibilities required in today's competitive market."
