About three-quarters of Williams students are school leavers undertaking Diploma or Advanced Diploma courses.

The hardest things as a school leaver are to figure out what you want to do in terms of study and a career, and then find a place that offers a course you like. And of course there’s the worry about your UAI.

At Williams we offer a range of courses that are both suitable for the person with a clear career path in mind and for those who are a little more undecided. The great thing about being a school leaver is that you have plenty of opportunity to change your mind and to try different things.

Williams is unlike a University in the sense that we don’t require a UAI. We believe that if you want to study and are interested in your chosen field that you will do well.  However, many of our graduates go on to university study using credits from the qualifications they gain at Williams, but are able to enter well-paid and satisfying full time jobs after just one year with us.

What we offer is simple – management, marketing, hospitality, tourism and secretarial courses that are suitable for School Certificate and Higher School Certificate graduates. They are structured in levels so that you gain a qualification after each semester -- sometimes after each term. At each level you can see how you're going with your studies, and if after a semester of study you think you may want to try another area of study, you can do that!

As a school leaver you also have to think that even if you do attain a UAI suitable for University entrance, is it the right path for you. We have many students that made the choice to come to Williams even though they attained suitable marks to attend University. Their reasoning is that they are job-ready in a year and can still move on to full or part time university study with substantial credits.

Towards the end of your time at Williams we will help you find suitable employment once you graduate – we don’t usually have a problem with this as it’s mostly employer’s that contact us for graduates to fill their positions.
